A friend of mine, we'll call him Martin to protect his identity, has inspired me to do a bit of sculpting. I draw like a 2 year old so I had to opt for shapes and symmetry rather than figures if I was going to come out of it with any shred of dignity. The medium used is a light weight porous concrete which is cheap and easy to work with as it's quite soft but surprisingly durable. After a couple of practises on offcuts I bought a couple of 200X200X550 mm blocks ($15 each) and, as I'm prone to do, embarked immediately into a project of mammoth proportions. Luckily I didn't screw up too bad and whether people think it's good or not is irrelevant because I did it myself and had a lot of fun doing it. I've still got one block to go too. Here is the result. The solar spots really make it look spectacular at night but my little camera struggles with night photos so these will have to do.
